losing you

losing you

was like chugging bleach

straight from the bottle

corrosive

my lungs are burning,

collapsing,

evaporating into thin air

caving in

loving you

was like sand between my toes

warm, always pressed into my darkest crevasses

inescapable

and you. oh you.

your eyes, green as a forest floor

burning holes into my flesh like a fucking bottle of bleach

caustic

losing you

has filled my being with roaring fire

my skin feels as if I’ve been set ablaze

smoldering

engulfing myself in one thousand matches and

one gallon of gasoline could never hurt as much as much as

my lungs do when I wake up and remember

I lost you
